B.E./ B.Tech, MCA, M.Tech,  in Computer Science domain not only learn some application software and some programming languages but also they learn how a programming language works, how a program is compiled, how input is converted to output from the machine hardware level. The theoretical part of computer science includes complexity analysis, compiler construction, verifying the correctness of circuits and protocols, etc. Automata theory is one of the cores of computer science and engineering. Automata is known as the backbone of computer science and it is the link between digital logic and a computer algorithm, it is the base of compiler design. Thus, without any hesitation, I believe that TOC is a core part of the subject of computer science and engineering.
